Mamahood Outdoors: Biking with Kids in Lacombe Alberta

When I asked Leah join me in this initiative her response was “You think I’m adventurous?”… And for those of you who don’t know Leah there is no better response I could have asked for coming from such a humble and carefree momma. For Leah this is just a normal day with kids; you eat, you play, you get out and do what you love. And if there is one thing I have learned from this incredible momma over the years, it is that you can do anything you put your mind to (despite what anyone else might think).

On this particular day in May we met up in Lacombe, AB to bike a portion of the Trans Canada Trail (this portion of the Trans Canada Trail was completed in 2012 and is 12 km one way… making our trip a total of 24 km).

Mamahood Outdoors: An Edmonton Snowshoeing Mama

We met up on a beautiful sun-filled day in the middle of March to enjoy an afternoon of snowshoeing. It was such a breath of fresh air after the never-ending cold snap this past winter and just like any normal trip, the unexpected happened right off the get-go! As Alyssa just finished dressing Bohdi in his winter gear she realized his boots no longer fit. Like any seasoned mom (she might not admit this, but seriously she’s a pro!) would do, she made it work, and in no time we were on the trail.

Through this Mamahood Outdoors initiative, it is my goal to help encourage other moms who are entering into this new journey of life, as well as those who have been on it for a long time. Through featuring a variety of adventure moms and providing my experiences/tips I hope to inspire other mom’s that they can get out with their kids and that they do not need to give up that part of their lives.
